Boring Blender type question

I want a cheapish blender type thing. Mainly for soups/sauces and maybe smoothies. I'm bewildered by the variety and price out there. Will the smallish ones for 20 quid do?

I have a very old food processor but it is a pain in the knickers to set up and wash and I've lost it just now......

What kind do I need?

TIA

for that type of stuff i would just get a hand blender. MUCH easier to clean. and then you can blend soup right in the pot.

I've got one of these - does everything I need it to including grinding coffee, and takes up less space than a jug lender thing.

I agree the hand held blender makes it a breeze and its easy to wash up -do watch out for the nasty habit of trying to splash you...always when you've forgotten to put an apron on and have a white top on!!

I have another blender for my Kenwood which I use for breadcrumbs and very rarely compared to my hand held one...an elderly Braun one, which has a broken attachemnt for grinding etc sadly but as the rest of it still works then I haven't upgraded yet!!
