Which you'd serve to friends coming round for the evening.

With a sauce you can prepare in advance.

And what else would you serve with it?

shoppingbags sounds great am going to print that

I do venison slow cooked served with that wide flat pasta (obv the poshest pasta shape judging from this thread). It can be made in advance and reheated.

Recipe is below, although I must warn you that if you make it the quantities are only good for 4, so buy more meat and/or add lots of different kinds of mushrooms:

Serve with a big green salad and some bread.

why thank you candypandy, I think it's the thyme that makes it so tasty. I usually add the cream and do the boiling bit just before serving but make the rest of the sauce in advance

Where can I buy Clams from? I have been to Sainsburys and Tesco and they don't sell them.

I fancy the sound of that recipe LoveAngel posted.

Jamie made pasta on TV last night. He had some fresh shop bought lasagne which he cut into strips. It looked like homemade papardelle pasta. Very posh!

captainmummy · 18/01/2008 13:02

Oh yeah - you can use fresh lasagne sheets to made canneloni too - easier to stuff if you just roll them up. Nice stuffed with cooked mushrooms and covered inwhite sauce (or tomato sauce)

CatIsSleepy · 18/01/2008 13:08

is lasagne posh enough?
have done a nigel slater one recently with mushrooms (fresh ones and dried porcini) cooked in cream, and pesto

I can dig out the recipe if you're interested
very easy to do in advance

crab and linguine (nice if you can get a fresh crab) with chilli/lemon/parsley is very quick
