YOu could do pate mushrooms to start:
Large flat field mushroom per person - pop under grill for a couple of mins to soften
Spread large dollop of pate of choice (veggie pate is lovely too if you don't like meat pate) on mushroom
Dot with garlic butter & sprinkle mixed herbs
Pop back under grill for about 3-4 mins

Or a simple soup?

DO Nigella's pavlova for pud - is soo easy but people are mega impressed by it!

WHipped one up all in all minus cooking time in 20 minutes on friday!

How about a baileys bread and butter pudding for dessert? It is very easy to assemble beforehand and whilst you are having the main course just bung it in the oven. I like to use brioche.

You could do a simple cream of veg soup for starters. Put loads of different veg in a pan, (I would also add a couple of potatoes) with stock, bring to the boil, simmer then blend. (You could do this the day before). When reheating, slowly add some cream.

For your main - are you doing one huge chicken like a roast or using chicken pieces/fillets?

Open to suggestions re:main
