Packed lunch

Does anyone have a recipe for a savoury flap jack type thing? I made Nigella's cheese biscuits yesterday and the kids don't like them so nothing like that. Shame as they would have been great for the packed lunch at school.

I have this one...

Makes 6-8 flapjacks

1 egg
25g butter
75g grated cheddar
70g porridge oats

Mix all the ingredients together then press into a shallow 20cm square tin.
Bake in oven at 180/350/gas 4 for 30-40 mins until golden.
Allow to cool, then cut into slices

Might make them myself later!

I've never heard of flapjacks made with cheese. Has anyone actually tried them? I'd love to make them if they are nice. Ta.

.....and?

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 20/01/2008 19:58

They taste like cold and very crispy cheese on toast.

I'm not sure my kids would be impressed. how about tried and tested good old fationed flap jacks? There are many recipes but which one is your favourite? Also what else would be good in a lunch box? I don't know how safe to put cooked food in it? Meat balls or something like that? I know some people put cooked rice but I read somewhere that in 1 hour cooked rice becomes dangerous if not refridgrated.

I am not keen but have put a bit in their lnch boxes so we will see if they like them.

I wanted savoury as I have lots of pudding recipes.

yes, savoury would be good. I ended up putting pieces of cheese, pieces of ham, cucumber, a piece of bread (white, they wouldn't eat whole meal, some grapes and yougurt.
