Throw it at your neighbour's cat

Mash it with your potatoes or roast it in the oven with some olive oil and herbs. Make soup.

calzone · 13/01/2008 13:28

or mash it with carrots and have with a roast.

or stick it in soup.

LOL shiny

peel, cut, boil, mash with black pepper and butter.

1)peel it, boil it, mash it, add some butter, pepper, salt and nutmeg and serve as a vegetable. delicious!

2)Mix mashed turnip with mashed potato. Delicious

  1. Put 1 pint water, 1 stock cube, peeled tunip cut up, and 2 onions with salt pepper and nutmeg in a pot. Boil until turnip is soft, then zizz with a hand blender. Delicious soup!

heres what i would do.......chuck it in the bin.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 13/01/2008 13:32

Great minds OJ.. yours is more animal friendly though.

I'll eat a turnip, but if I was in charge of doing something creative with it, or even just boiling it, sorry, it'd have to be the bin or the cat option. Life's hard enough!

BBBee · 13/01/2008 13:32

TBH when I did the whole veg box thing quite often things went striaght form box to compost bin (chicory )

jellyjelly · 13/01/2008 13:37

Another vote for mash. Especially "Mix & Mash" which is a great way to use up small amounts of veg or yet another odd root in your veg box that you don't want to eat on it's own. Use any or all of the following potato/turnip/swede/celeriac/carrots/parsnips.

It may be wetter than creamy mashed potatoes but will taste great.

jellyjelly · 13/01/2008 14:01

i have a few parsnips too and carrots so i guess i could just mash them all up together?

Yes, do it! With a good knob of butter and salt & black pepper. Particularly good with sausages and gravy.
