I didn't fancy the lasagne

there is a big raw food movement in the UK, look online....it is pretty hardcore, everything is eaten raw.

i don't subscribe to it not least because i adore slow cooked food, but the principles are sound, everything except tomatoes is seriously depleted of vits and minerals through cooking....really good to eat as much raw food as possible...

just found it interesting but like you say sophable, a bit hard core.
The lasagne did look foul.

I was thinking of maybe trying it for a week.

Am i right, did they say, no bread, pasta or dairy?
fruit and veg only?

(doh, pasta is cooked i know, but no bread)

I watched a diet programme a while back about a family (caribbean I think) who only ate raw food and the DH used to be overweight and is now the picture of everything healthy. Even their cardboard tasting bread wasn't cooked!

they were vegan - no dairy. The "lasagne" didn't ahve pasta in it IIRC, and the sauce was made of nuts and fermented yeast. mmmmmmm

Vegan, is that what its called?

are there different variations of vegan, i thought that was when they eat no animal produce.

We are all eating dead food and being killed by it, according to scary pink eyeshadow woman

Fresh raw fruit and veg are really important but the poor kids had never even tasted an ice cream. And weren't allowed to have friends who ate meat.

Its not a healthy attitude towards food. Not at all.

Very radical and extreme i know.

it was just the combinations of food i was curious about.
what do they put together to constitute a "meal"?
It didnt kind of say recipes or how they keep it different and interesting did they?
Just wondered.

sorry they were vegan as well as raw food eaters - I was confirming the no dairy thing, when I said that they were vegan

Iota · 12/01/2008 15:08

If I went on a raw food diet, I think that I would be eating salads, not making up scary lasagne substitute

deenymcqueenygoreandguts · 12/01/2008 15:10

I think i would miss lovely winter foods, soups and slow cooker stuff.
