My dd is 7 1/2 months old and has a stinking cold and a really bad cough. She started refusing her breakfast last week and for the last four days has refused food completely. I have increased bf and have gone back to feeding her in the night.
She had a fantastic appetite before. Ive tried finger food, no lumps and her fave food but will only have milk.
Went to docs todays and they said she would be fine but really worried that she is starving.
Any ideas?

Breastfeeding will keep her going, don't worry.

My 17 month old was ill recently and hardly ate for three weeks, but I bf through and he was fine.

Don't worry: ddis 13m and about 3 week ago, after getting bad cough and cold (it is certainly doing the rounds at the moment!) gradually refused all food, and all i could get her to take was very watered down milk (eg a 240ml bottle that should have had 8 scoops of formula had 3 scoops in) i think they feel so grotty and have tummies full of phlegm that they don't want to eat! Just keep up with fluids: keep bf'ing and just try any means of fluids too when not feeding: in worst case get diaralyte(?) thingies if your dc is old enough, the doctor prescribed them for dd, but get flavourless if you need them, coz flavoured are gross! Keep an eye out for nappies getting dry and if urine significantly decreases / fluid intake decreases get straight back to docs. Our dd did have no wet nappy for 2 days, went to docs who ref'd her to childrens ward for referral only and she hada bacterial infection, which was luckily sorted out after a few days on antiabiotics: that isn't to say that is the prob with yoyr dc, but just to make you feel justified if you don't want to keep going to the doctors: if unsure and you know things aren't right, justgo back
