Pumpkin pie question

I know pumpkin pies aren't big in the UK, but if there are any mumsnetters with experience baking these, do you know any tricks for avoiding the cracking/breaking of the pie filling that often occurs as a result of baking?

Or does anyone know a foodie website where I could post such a question? Thanks, everyone.

I looked, and this was the best I could come up with Its from a website called baking911.com, where you can "ask Sarah" questions, and that is her response.

A belated thanks for your responses, girls.

My mum found an article on this in a cooking magazine, and apparently the trick is not to overmix the filling, i.e. don't use a handmixer or a magimix/cuisinart. You should apparently just mix it gently with a spoon, and that should minimize the cracking when the pie is baked.

My mom tried this method for Thanksgiving, and, indeed, there wasn't too much cracking.
