Put them in cold running water as soon as they are done, this stops the yolks of the eggs turing blackish round the edges.

Soup in a flask.

Or hot chocolate and take some marshmallows

Soup in a flask?

I have in the past made bread and kept it well wrapped up in tea toels until we get there and it stays nice and warm.

ooooooo might make some bread to take with the soup.

we can get hot drinks at the cafe on the lake, and will stop there to warm up briefly on the way round.

potato cakes - basically bubble and squeak made into patties and baked or fried

To hard boil eggs - boil for 10 mins then under cold water and take shells off (or leave them on if you want to!)

Oven cooked sausages wrapped in the foil with the baked potates (to maintain heat).

We had a hot picnic on bonfire night, we went to a local lake and sat down to it. We got a few strange looks mind as it was pitchblack and we had lit our table with toy light sabres stood in a kitchen roll

Hot picnis, brillant fun.

My friend also made bread and butter pudding, but if you have to carry it arround all day first I would avoid it. We only had it because we left the stuff in the car before going to the display.

Enjoy, ohh I am so envious
