am going to do dd's birthday cake

want to ice it

have never iced cake

please help me want to be proper mother

do I buy stuff on a roll? mix stuff? what do I do? what do I need? (am doing online Asda shop now)

If you aren't doing anything fancy - ie just covering it. Buy icing sugar and butter (mix together for tasty butter icing). Roll on stuff doesn't taste half as nice. Also I would buy sweets like dolly mixture, smarties, buttons to decorate for a simple and effective cake.

Yes! Mine are prone to jabbing sweets until they are a good inch down into the cake though .

can't imagine any getting from dd1's hands into cake - straight into mouth they will go

dd2 has much more idea of food as project
