Quick help - Cheesy potatoe and bacon bake

Hello, I am just making a cheese and bacon potatoe bake thingy and was going to boil the pots first., However i was just peeling them and had a sudden thought that if they are then going to be cooked in the oven with sauce - willl they go soggy if pre-cooked?

I don't know what to do now as I don't want them to be undercooked as they will be hard and spoil the whole dish. But don't want them to be soggy either.

Any advice? I am making a lage amount to freeze so don't want to mess it up! Never made anything like this with pots before, usually just do something with pasta, but wanted to be different.

Please reply quick as I have already started! Will finish peeling pots now and come back and hope to have a reply!

I would cook them for about 15 minutes until soft but if you can wait 45-60 mins put them in raw.

if they are thinly sliced put them in raw and cook for about 45-60 minutes, covered with foil so it doesn't fry out.

sounds good, hope it works out!

oh and add milk too so it doesn't fry out and there is liquid to cook the potatoes in.

Thanks, its amazing how quickly you get answers on here! I have chopped them up into bitesize bits

I had this in hospital the other day and it was lovely so thought I would try it at home! Love cheese and love bacon!

Does anybody know if I can freeze this after its been cooked in the oven? I did lots, with the intent to freeze some. The stuff that I wanted to freeze, I didn't put in the oven, so will cover and put in the freezer part cooked, and then will oven cook when I have defrosted it.

However what I had allowed for us to eat today was in fact way too much. If I can't freeze, I will eat it tomorrow but had planned to have a roast. It has already been cooked in the ove, with melted cheese on top.

Is it ok to freeze? Would I would be able to heat in the oven again?

Any advice would be great!
