My mum used to make the most delicious fruit cake ever, it was packed with dried fruit, just raisins/sultanas/currants, and all lovely and moist. I know she used to call it her boiled fruit cake, and remember seeing her with all the fruit in a pan at the beginning.

I want to make it for Christmas (late I know ) but I can't find it any of her recipe books, and sadly she died earlier this year....

if anyone can help I will be very grateful

LewisFanBAHons has one because she emailed it to Greensleeves recnelty [nosey].

I'd rather like it myself, me ma does a fab boiled cake. Gorgeous with butter [fat].

Ninewurleysdancing - thanks, but I don't think it sounds quite right. No candied fruit, and don't think mixed spice - the cake was so packed with fruit, there wasn't too much cake around it.

when i was a poverty stricken student, she used to send me off to uni with 1 to keep me going for a bit, and I had to hide it from my room mate

we used to have a boiled fruit cake too - delicious. I think if you google, quite a few recipes come up.
