Can anyone recommend a realy good recipe book for baking cakes and bread. I wondered about a Mary Berry book but there are so many of them, I don't know which to go for. TIA

The three baking books I use most are:
Mary Berry's Ultimate cake book (hardback)
Mary Berrys quick & Easy Cakes (paperback)
Best kept secrets of the WI cakes & biscuits (paperback)

None of them have bread recipes though. My favourite of the 3 is the paperback Mary Berry - it's more limited than the hardback & has no pics, but it seems to have everything I need. The WI book is also very good but contains a suprising no. of cakes based around nuts - not much good when you are cooking for school lunchboxes etc!

I have a lovely one from Good HouseKeeping - my MIL gave it to us for Xmas about 2 years ago so it's up to date. really lovely pictures as well. It's just called Step by Step Baking

Thanks! I'll look out for the ones you have both mentioned.
