Recommendations for a book on wine please

Not sure this is the best topic for it , but can anyone recommend a good guide to wine. dh has requested one for Christmas but no idea where to start !

Robert Parker is the wine expert who writes books on wine that many consider their "wine bible" - he would be a good place to start.

A wine buff I know recommended this
A bit pricey, and a bit big, but this guy knows his wine! It genuinely is £35 in Waterstones, cos I had a look at it. The Amazon price includes postage, have ordered one for my DH. Might not be what you're after tho.
