I have a lovely recipe (somewhere) for green pea tart - really easy to make.

Butterbean pate - drain a tin of butter beans, mash till soft and not too many lumps, stir in garlic (crushed into a puree with the blade of a knife), salt and black pepper, a bit of natural yoghurt, some lemon or lime juice and, if you like, a bit of chilli powder.

Delia's vegetarian sausage rolls, in her Christmas book, are absolutely gorgeous! And if you buy the pastry, really easy to do.

Say it a few times I know, I'm sorry, but veggie kebabs - chunks of sweet potato, onion, mushroom, courgette etc on skewers. Brush with garlic oil or some nice marinade while grilling. Nice hot or cold, maybe with pittas?
Or dips & pitts cut into slices

I second the veggie kababs - with some marinaded tofu (firm tofu cut in to squares and marinaded in soya sauce and sweet chilli plus garlic, ginger ect) then threaded on with all the nice veg. A good sauce is a satay sauce - smooth peanut butter (not sunpat - bleurgh) sainsbury's is good! Mix with soy sauce, soymilk and garlic paste and some ground dried chilli. Very yummy.

Lots of dips and raw veg and breadsticks/homemade soda bread to go with it are crow pleasers.

I would do vegetarian mince pies also - make the pastry with stork, and used veg suet in the mince.

Mulled wine or a coctail with cinnamon in it.

Olives and sundried tomato paste on crostini
selection of grapes and clementines
Chocolate truffles

A big pot of kidney bean chilli with tortillas/rice

Salads like: quinoa and olives/avacado and spinach;
grated carrots and sultanas with some cider vinegar and a pinch of mixed spice;
Tomato slices, garlic, and basil with extra virgin olive oil;
fruit salad with cinnamon
Rice with blackbeans, jalapeno, tomato sauce (from a jar is good) cumin and smoked paprika.

Happy hostessing!
