We live in an area that adds fluoride to tap water and I've been giving ds (8mo) Evian as a drink and also to make up his formula.
Is this ok for him? nursery seems to think not.

Evian is Ok as it has a low sodium content.

We use bottled water for everything. DD (2.11 so not such a concern) has all her juice made with it. I also use it to top up ds's (4months) bottles or juice if i'm in a rush and the boiled water isn't quite cool enough. He's been fine.

Bottled water is unregulated, ie no controls whatsoever. Also, a friend's 7 year old had leukemia and she was told by Consultant at Great Ormond Street hospital that she should NOT have any bottled water, tap water only, due to the high bacteria content of bottled water. True story

oops

I am absolutely convinced that evian is OK - we used it constantly in France and over there it has a baby's face on it and is recommended by any pharmacist you go to. There is always the possibility that the evian over here is different of course.

Having said all that, i wouldn't dream of bothering with bottled water over here! but then i am a pro-fluoride type. Why not have a chat with a pharmacist over here and see what they say?

Annabel Karmel advises against bottled water because of a high mineral salt content. I haven't looked into it anymore than that, SoupDragon could be right. I love Evian, its my favourite. I guess it must be the favourite of alot of others too, I often see they have run out in the supermarket

I am so against fluoride being in water. I've been living here for 3 years and my teeth have got gradually grubbier and now I have an increasing incidence of excema - which I never had before I moved here!
I'd heard evian was one of the few bottled waters you could give to babies as there wasn't much sodium in it.
