In a fit of full moon madness, I have 6 adults and 6 children to feed for sunday dinner tomorrow. And one modest oven...
Will two large chickens (with sausages, roasties, parsnips, carrots, spring greens, broccoli and leek in cheese sauce, peas, and yorkshires be enough?)

yes it should be. I've bought a large (or "extra large") to feed 4 adults and 2 children (all big eaters) before now, and still had plenty for "2nds"....I should imagine that 2 chickens, with all the trimmings would be plenty.

Sounds wonderful - wish I was coming!

I think it will be ok, as long as there are no teenagers. I always do sausages as a filler. If I have teenagers, I buy a few extra drumsticks and wedge them around the chickens. Nobody has ever asked me why the chicken appears to have six legs.

If they are still hungry, you could have some cheese and biscuits on standby.

I feel hungry just reading this.

phew...
There is one teeneage boy though.
I might ask my pal who is next dfoor (and is coming with her 2) id we can bung another chicken in her oven...
I'm borrowing half her plates as it is

Why did I suggest this??

Two will be fine.

3littlefrogs · 24/11/2007 10:27

I think it will be fine - the children will eat less, and the teenager can have a bit more! You don't want to be eating left over chicken for a week. Cooking an extra chicken next door sounds like too much hassle.

about some bread rolls? Bung them on the table as well and no-one will be able complain there's not enough food

I am rather banking on the children being so over excited that they will eat nothing
