I think I'm doing steak with red wine sauce, mash and greens for the main, so any ideas for easy but special starter and pud? Nothing too stodgy or rich as I'm hoping to avoid heartburn on his birthday... I won't have loads of time, so a pud to make in advance would be great. I was thinking of a bannoffee trifle kind of thing as we have some gorgeous caramel sauce we bought in France, but I haven't got further than that.
Any ideas would be massively helpful - running out of inspiration myself!
