My DS is 10 months old. When should I give him eggs to eat?

they can have eggs from 6 months I thought .. just make sure you cook it thoroughly .. scrambled eggs works well

If there are food allergies in your family you may want to wait until 12 months.

I gave DS eggs from 10 months. As DH has asthma I wanted to wait longer than 6 months.

Twiglett · 03/11/2004 21:33

sorry they are quite right .. I was assuming no history of allergies in your family

In the US they say egg white not until a year, but egg yolks are OK earlier.

MummyToSteven · 03/11/2004 23:57

my hv said to wait till 12 months

Californiagirl is right - problems are nearly always with egg whites. I followed Suzanne Olivier's guides and she is SUPER cautious (doesn't introduce cows milk even in food until about 15 months if I remember), anyway, she happily recommends egg yolks sometime between 6-8 months. She introduces egg whites sometime between 9-14 months.

As ever, how much you worry about this kind of stuff depends on whether you have allergic tendencies in your family.

My son who is 12mths tomorrow has the most horrendous nappies if I give him eggs.It has been a hard lesson but eventually I made the connection!!
