i really do apologise for this but these flippin cakes are doing my head in! why oh why did a non-cook like me volunteer to make them?! how do i get them not to look like small pyramids?! whenever i buy homemade cakes, they are flat or rounded on top but mine are triangular!
i'm too embarrassed to take these to nursery but I'm happy to try another batch if anyone has a tip on how to get them flatter.
TIA

surelt that is successful because they have really risen

if you like you could make them into butterfly buns - cut the top off flat, and cut the top piece vertically into 2, add a blob of butercream to the top of the bun, then stick the 2 wings on at an angle

You may have over filled the cases.

But why not turn them into butterfly cakes?

Take a small knife and cut the top off so they are flat.

Cut the cirle in half.

Put a spoonfull of butter icing on the cake.

Place the two half of the cirle onto of the butter icing, making them look like butterfly wings.

Hang on I'll go and find a photo, might be easier to understand.

Yep! But I think you type quicker than me!

oooooh - will try that with the better ones - and dd and dh can polish off the crappy ones! why does no one tell you that becoming a mum doesn't neccessarily mean you can bake cakes?
i need 'how to cook like a proper mummy' lessons!

Sure your doing a great job!

Being a mum does not automatically turn you into a chef, dry cleaning specialist, etc.
