AGA saga! Please Help!

I have a lovely new aga. It's cream and lovely, and everything BUT how the feck do you get the shelves out? They are hooked onto the runners at the back so they don't drop out, but how do you get them out to move them up and down?

Feel a bit of a fool, but surely someone on here will know.

I have had an AGA for 5 years and I still have to get my husband to do this

But how does he do it? Is there a knack or does he just yank at them?

Push the shelf as far back as possible, lift it up, and pull out.

Or so he says .
