Can anyone tell me how to cut malt loaf without it going into a sticky compacted wedge?

I only realised they made it ready sliced when dp bought it by accident the other day the slices were indeed neat but the middle doesn't taste as moist (in fact it was slightly stale tasting) as when you cut it yourself.

ah, like fruit and veg then. Loses its nutrients once cooked. Squidgy is the way forward
