If I gave you

Roast beef with red onions and ginger
roast potatoes & parsnips
yorkshire puds
greens, buttered/sugared carrots, peas
gravy

(and this is the bit I really want to check with you)

pumpkin & swiss cheese mash
and a
horseraddish and creme fraiche sauce

and a pumpkin & apple pie with cream or marscapone

Basically I want to a roast but want to do something different with some of the veg, give it a bit of a twist and would like it to include pumpkin to be seasonal.

What do you think?

ooo sounds yummy

like the idea of pumpkin mash .. but think I'd make it creamy and not cheesy (I am a big cheese fan though)

love the horseraddish and creme fraiche sauce

I once had carrot batons boiled in orange juice rather than just water and they were fantastic

moomina · 28/10/2004 22:13

I'd think you were flippin' marvellous.

When can I come round?

pixiefish · 28/10/2004 22:15

Where did you say you lived again Thomcat????? Please!!!! I'm houserained...

marthamoo · 28/10/2004 22:15

I'm not sure, TC..tell you what, you cook it, and I'll come over and eat it and tell you what I think. It's very hard to be sure just seeing it written down like that. A bit like Masterchef when they describe the menus. I'm free on Saturday....

Thomcat · 28/10/2004 22:30

You lot are so funny, you've made me giggle so much tears came!

So seriously (ha yeah right!) for the pumpkin mash it's mashed with double cream, shallot, bit of hutmeg & butter and then you put gruyere cheese on top and shove it under the grill.

The dessert is making. a batter base with butter & sugar & eggs, flour & milk. Spinkle almonds then apple & pumpkin then you pour over more butter, suger, eggs & a bit of cinnamon and cook it for about an hour.

That all sounds ok does it, sorry I also like a bit of reassurance before I decide and DP is out so you're getting it!

moomina · 28/10/2004 22:33

Honestly, TC, it sounds gorgeous.

Except for the hutmeg.

WigWamBam · 28/10/2004 22:35

Can't comment on the roast cos I'm veggie, but the pumpkin mash and the pumpkin and apple pie have me drooling all over my keyboard. [why is there no drool icon?]

marthamoo · 28/10/2004 22:36

Are you serving it in giant vine leaves?

Cadbury · 28/10/2004 22:42

What time do you want us then?

wobblyknicks · 28/10/2004 22:45

Shall I bring a bottle TC or just myself??

Cadbury · 28/10/2004 22:47

I'll pick you up wk, we can share a taxi!

Thomcat · 28/10/2004 23:02

You funny girls, okay I have the reassurance I needed.

And they were banana leaves not vine leaves marthamoo! (Are you remembering what I think you are?!)

OP posts:
marthamoo · 28/10/2004 23:03

I am - I knew they were leaves of some description. It sounds lovely - I wish someone would cook me meals like that
