My little girl has been off her food for some weks now. She started to refuse when she became ill, however she is back to full health as they say and she is still not eating.
Today she has eaten 1 bowl of coco pops [naughty i know] and half an apple.
Surely this is not enough!!
Everyone i speak to says to not offer her anything else if she refuses to eat her meal.
Really dont know what to do can i really chance her becoming unwell again due to not eating.
PLEASE ANY SUGGESTIONS?????

my son went through this stage, and now we'll have a couple of weeks where he barely eats, and then a couple when he eats everything in sight.....my HV told me not to worry too much as a child of that age can live off a biscuit a day!!! find something she likes and stick to it in my experience till she's back into eating!!!

a toddler will eat when they are hungry, they wont starve themselves.

DD2 (just 2yo) is not feeling all that great at the moment and is surviving on a banana and a slice of toast a day at the moment. (has been for 3 days)

This is very very common for this age - my first was dreadful - literally months when all he would eat were shreddies, yoghurts and cheese. I made a lot of mistakes trying to coax him to eat and I would recommend offering what you think is healthy and then taking it away without comment if it is refused. if you offer lots of alternatives, as I did, it will only prolong the phase. Try to have others for tea who are good eaters, or have carpet pcinics etc where you feed the toys. Also, Minadex is a good supplement and can also increase appetite. When ds2 started this I ignored it and it only lasted a month, rather than nearly a year. Good luck I know it is very upsetting

Second the Mindex suggestion. I found it did help boost my DC's appetite, and also is a tonic so will provide some of the vitamins and minerals she's missing out on while not eating. Good luck.

My DD is daughter is going through a similar phase - before she loved eating variety of foods now all the wants is mashed potato, Dora spagetti or macaroni cheese. I've given in but hidden bit bits of meat and veg which she is eating.
