Making my dad a victoria sandwhich for his birthday today...

was gonna fill it with jam and cream

how cold does the cake have to be before i put the whipped cream in...

its just out of the oven NOW but i really ought to leave to see my dad and give it to him soon...

does it have to be reallly cold... will slightly warm sour the cream?

(dont normally bake cakes in a rush!_

It needs to be cold. Take the cream with you?

Or invent something new, the snadwich

Are you transporting it? Whip the cream and put it in a sealed tub, take the jam with you. Stick a sheet of greaseproof between the halves of the cake - assemble when you get there.

agh ok then

thats what i expected to here...

just been down and looked at it on cooling rack and saw steam is STILL coming out so concluded right now might not be a good time to put cream in!

I could wait an hour (max) do you think it will be cool enough in an hour? bearing in mind there is still steam now?
