My dd drinks 6 oz in the morning, 5 oz at 2.30 pm and 8 oz night time. It seems too much as she is off her food (unless its something yoghurty or rice pud etc). She is still on formula. So - how much does she really need?

well . say 20oz or a pint a day so you are doing just fine. If you are worried that this amount of milk is affecting her appetite why not space the bottles out to an hour and a half before or after food?

I think kids that age can get away with 16 oz of milk and two or three good portions of dairy food, like a piece of cheese, a yogurt and a rice pud so you could safely cut down the milk if she is happily eating these types of food.

I read in a few books, the NCT website and my HV said they don't need milk after a year if they are eating plenty of other dairy produce.

My DD is 15 months, and from 12 months has been on cow's milk and has 2 beakers (not bottles - but probably approx 16oz)a day - one in morning and one last thing at night. Then she has milk on cereals.
You mention different behaviour at nursery and home - what does she drink milk-wise at nursery? Also - have found with both mine that we had a spell of where they were angels food-wise at nursery but complete nightmare at home! Pushing the boundaries i think!
