Rolled oat biscuits

My mother used to make wonderful biscuits when I was a child. She can't remember the recipe and she never wrote it down anywhere I know that she made them by melting syrup, butter and maybe sugar and mixing that mixture into rolled oats and possibly flour, then dropping spoonfuls onto a baking sheet. They were crunchy but slightly chewy in the middle and absolutely delicious, and I have never been able to recreate them. Has anybody got any ideas?

4oz oats
3oz caster sugar
4oz sr flour
4oz butter
1 tsp bicarb
1 tblspn golden syrup
tiny splash of water

mix flour, sugar, oats and bicarb together. melt butter and syrup in microwave or in a pan. mix everything together and add a splash of water . roll into small balls and squash a bit ,put on baking parchment so they dont stick and cook on 180*c for about 8 mins ,but depends on your oven. they should be golden not brown

I hope this is them ,but if not these are still gorgeous , i make them for my kids all the time

btw leave plenty of space when you put them on the baking parchment because they spread quite a bit
