Well not all that inspirational, but here it is fwiw:

Wholemeal bap with tuna mayonnaise
Smoothie style yoghurt
Small tupperware container full of grapes
1 babybel
small portion of chocolate brownie

Not that much fruit (just the grapes) because they get plied with apple and banana etc at snack time

Now you are all freaking me out, MrsSeanSlater that's so cool. Waitrose, not on my budget.

LongDeadMotherofHarryP · 08/10/2007 23:02

Thanks for that link - I can give them cabbage and caraway soup too now! (only kidding - I love cabbage soup but I'm not sure mine will want that version - but any child-friendly home-made soup recipes anyone got to share? Mine are all a bit too chunky and peculiar for my childrens' tastes!)

handlemecarefully · 08/10/2007 23:07

Oh yes - Ojust seen the thermos food container. Wow the possibilities!

LongDeadMotherofHarryP · 08/10/2007 23:11

WotzNow - just checked the Tesco website - box of 12 quail eggs is £2.15. 6 free range hen eggs are 1.69, 12 hen eggs cost £2.15. Mine get them as a treat occasionally - not every week!

I wished I'd seen the thermos food whatsits earlier. Ds (13) is on a school trip tomorrow..in a river He could have done with some nice hot pasta! he will be taking a thermos of hot chocolate though!

OneTrickMummy · 08/10/2007 23:18

Sainsbury's do a wide neck flask a bit cheaper than MadamJoJO, about £6.

MrsSeanSlater, what other hot food do you put in? I am afraid to send anything very liquid (soup) in case it spills and burns when poured out.

MrsSeanSlater · 08/10/2007 23:18

I'm surprised they're not more widely used. DS1 is one of only two children in his class who use them. I like to send him off on cold mornings knowing he will have a hot lunch. And it opens up loads of possibilities - if we've run out of bread, I'll just boil up some pasta/noodles or even mini sausages and beans occasionally.

Thank you for the price check. I get 6 local free range eggs from my local greengrocer for £1.19. They are very big!

FWIW Mine eat lots of odd different things, we had asparagus (OK it was from Puru) for lunch at the weekend, but it was still from local greengrocer. I don't think they do quials eggs, the deli next door might. I'll have a look next time.

I have to look at the packed lunch and consider if they can eat it in under 12 minutes. They get 15 mins in the canteen.

Onetrickmummy, I don't send soup for that very reason. Tbh, it doesn't keep the food scorching hot so most things should be fine. i usually send pasta, cottage pie, or whatever leftovers we have from the previous night's dinner.
Other food flasks I've seen have been too big to fit in a child's lunchbox.
