bought a 'just add water and throw in breadmaker' - how lazy is that?? now can't find it in the shops and children love ginger cake (they are allergic to dairy stuff so have some wierd cravings and tastes)

Anyone know how?

this is the gingerbread recipe for my panasonic. Assuming that you can substitute the milk and butter for soya or rice based products.

1oz demerara sugar
3oz butter
2 oz golden syrup
3 oz black treacle
8oz plain flour
1 1/2 tsp ground ginger
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp bicarb
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 pint milk
1 medium egg beaten

warm sugar, butter, syrup and treacle until just melted (hob or microwave)

stir in all of the sieved dry ingredients

mix in milk and beaten egg.

beat with wooden spoon.

line bread pan with baking parchment (remove kneeding blade first)

put mixture in bread pan ensuring that it is all inside the parchment

select bake only program for 35 mins

leave to stand for 5 to 10 mins before removing from the bread pan and allowing to cool

ooohh thanks, will try (dairy free marg and goats milk are usually good substitutes for us)

Have never tried 'bake only' in breadmaker, it will be an education.

Thanx again
