What do you serve with toad in the hole?

DH has requested this for supper, not one of my favourites but there you go. I've made the sausages, got the batter ready and made a caramelised onion gravy, but can't decide what to serve it with. Any ideas?

just veg and maybe roast potatoes

Veg.

sometimes mash and carrots/white cabbage other times (normally when I have run out of time/potatos) just have baked beans

Always green beans here, with some mash if I can be bothered.

ScummyMummy · 04/10/2007 18:20

yum. Just the toad smothered in the gravy would do me. I suppose some veg or salad would be a nice optional extra.

We always have veg sausage toad in the hole, roast potatoes, swede, a green veg and onion gravy. Yum.

dottydog · 04/10/2007 18:20

Mash.

NineUnlikelyTales · 04/10/2007 18:21

Mashed swede, I should add.

ComeOVeneer · 04/10/2007 18:22

When I asked dh what veg he wanted he said that the finely chopped leeks I put in the sausages and the onions in the gravy constituted the veg portion of the meal

Oh mashed swede would be nice (but I don't have any).

I am a big veg fan but I'm with dh on this one- toad and gravy unadorned is a complete meal perfect in its deliciousness, I reckon.
