I don't know.

But if they've gone off, they will stink to high heaven when you crack them open.

So if you don't smell anything when you break them, they should be ok.

I would have thought they would be fine though.

Put one in a jug of water. If it sinks it's still fresh....if it floats, don't even think of cracking it open

I would've thought they would be OK though. I just checked my fridge and the eggs I bought on Monday say best before 17 October.

GreatHauntieWurly · 04/10/2007 10:19

they all sunk to the bottom of a jug of water, so I assume that they are ok

Yes if they've sunk then they're fine - eggs normally last 3 weeks in the fridge.

ok, was only gonna use them to make a cake, so will do that later when ds2 has gone to school.

Thanks everyone

Sorry! read it wrong!

Thought you meant in the conception sense! OOps!

I always break mine one at a time into a cup to check them before adding to ingredients. Have had eggs weeks passed 'best before' date and they have been fine and I don't keep them in the fridge.

Has anyone tried those rich in Omega 3 eggs?

Disgusting!
