I was given some dried juniper berries as a present (!). Other than attempt to make gin..., what could I do with them???

Juniper berry and lemon balm tea has a calming effect and tastes rather nice. Iirc you're not supposed to eat juniper berries if pregnant (I don't know whether that's relevant to you).

interesting gift!

I bought some the other day with the intention of cooking this www.cuisine.co.nz/index.cfm?pageId=26606 - haven't done so yet, so can't vouch for the recipe - but usually the ones on this site are reliable.

Thanks for the tips - I will def try the pork chops recipe and might try putting them in some hot water with lemon.

personally I'd throw them in the bin - they are vile

Hallgerda · 03/10/2007 19:41

You're not a gin soaked harridan then, iota?

Carmenere · 03/10/2007 19:44

They go really well with venison

iota · 03/10/2007 19:48

nah I'm just a harridan

Tinker · 03/10/2007 19:48

Crush them and add them to pork/sausage casseroles made with cider.

Delia's

was the recipe we tried.

Much nicer without the juniper berries

I think I'll give one recipe a go and if I don't like it then I'll take Iota's advice and throw them away! Thanks everyone
