What about trying this horse head cake. Then you could just make a very fancy mane and really bright decorations. Also did a search and found My Little Pony birthday candles will have another look. Maybe if you sent for them today they would arrive in time.

candles

I bought a cake from Costco a couple of years ago, with "Happy Birthday Lilo'sDC" on it, then bought a My little pony and stuck it in the corner. Added some Dolly Mixtures for a bit of extra decoration.

Can you not make a regular cake with coloured icing and stick a MLP on it !

lilolilmanchester · 02/10/2007 12:15

Even cheaper LIZS!

LIZS · 02/10/2007 12:18

Or print off a colouring page and use the design to cut out the shapes for a MLP picture in fondant icing on top. You can add the mane and tail with sweets or coloured butter icing "fluffed" with a fork.

Thank you.
Wags, that looks a little ambitious for me, mind you the candles look more like cows than ponies so I guess it wouldn't matter too much!!!
Lilo ans Lizs I think the ponies on an ordinary cake is a good idea,I might have a go at making a picture and use the ponies as a back up when it all goes horribly wrong

The supermarkets around here supply cakes with an edible picture on them (You take in your own photo) for about £8. If you have a good picture of a MLP perhaps that would work for you.

clutteredup · 02/10/2007 14:05

That's a good idea, its not against copyright or anything is it though?

They are a bit funny about what they will copy and what they won't. Give them a call Sainsbury's do them, (tho all our local ones were out of the icing when we wanted one last week) and I think Asda used to do them. they are fab cakes, but a friend tried to get then to do a TV character and they wouldn't. Worth a ring tho...

Thanks lilo

there was something my mum used to do with us (bless her) if u buy/find/download a picture of MLP and lay it on top of a iced cake and use a pin to trace the outline by pricking it at various points and then use a (Clean) paintbrush and some food colouring to trace the lines and then colour it in with more food colouring. its really arsey but certainly a cheap way of going about it. hope that helps x

someone on here was recommending cake toppers from ebay - edible icing you just stick on to a normal cake. DOn't know if they have a my little pony one though....
