Try substituting some or all of the fat in cakes and biscuits with fruit puree. The most popular ones to use are banana, apple, and prune. I'm not going to tell you that you can't taste the difference, but they are still yummy!
This method works best in richly flavoured cakes such as chocolate.

I've just made banana loaf. Certianly lower calorie than most due to lower fat content (3oz butter, 5oz suagr).

I make it 'cause it tastes lovely, though. I'm not interested in the diet side of it.

Maybe you should think more of nutritional value rather than calories when it comes to cakes and diet (addition of fruit and veg etc).

If any of the slimming world people are around they may find you the recipe for couscous cake. never had it but it involved couscous (big surprise there sarahhal ) and muller light yoghurt!

personally I would rather have a small treat of fat and sugar laden cake as a treat every now and again, than regular portions of low fat/low sugar substitutes.....

.....but if you must, the eat yourself thin cookbook is a must-have so I understand!

Thank you, some fab ideas that I will look into. Cous cous cake sounds odd...!
