Prunes - in what format do you give them to a constipated baby?

I've given DS dried prunes in a packet but it made no difference, still problems pooing. Do I need to get tinned ones and puree them and just give them to him? Have looked for prune juice but it wasn't anywhere amongst the juices in Sainsbury's. Do they come in any other format?

puree the tinned ones, or buy the baby organix jar

You can cook a few packet prunes in water and puree them. The taste can be quite strong though so if your DS doesn't like it mix with a bit of pureed apple

Giving fried prunes will probo make him more constipated because his little system won't be able to handle the concentrated fibre. It needs lits of liquid with it. So a runny puree would work better.

I often puree them roughly and then serve them stirred into an equal quantity of yoghurt - makes them runnier and I figure the yoghurt is good for the digestion as well

how old is ds? I gave ds1 tinned prune juice diluted with water when he was very young and it worked. Fresh orange juice diluted works too.

I used to boil them up, and whizz them down with the hand blender and stir into morning porridge, with explosive consequences, or boil and reatin the water and give as a drink
