DH bought me a lovely slow cooker for my birthday today. Sad, I know, but I love it.
The plan is to be an organised mother/wife/chef.
I've never used one before so it's all new to me. Any recipes/tips would be great.
TIA x

I'm going to bump this thread for you because I'm hopeful of inspiration, we use ours for little more than meat and veg stews and ham and pea soup! I know you can do curries in them and I'm wondering if you can do rice pudding in it?

do a search sparkler. I got given one last week so have beed scouting on the site, some good stuff.

Have done rice pudding!

50 gr of sugar
50 gr of pudding rice
400ml of milk
150ml (i used a 170ml) tin of evaporated milk

Chuck it in and cook for 4-5 hours

tis scrummy!

Also made a fab curry, off the back of a tikka masala paste jar and just cooked it for 8 hours.

Lamb - I used neck fillet
large tin of tomatoes
onion chopped
quarter of a jar of tikka masala paste (obviously check the jar reciped for strength)
After 7 hours scooped all the oil off the top and added 100mil single cream and turned it onto keep warm.

again twas scrummy!

I tend to use mine for things that I basically prepare on the stove and then just transfer into the slow cooker for stewing or keeping warm.

There are lots of American recipes available online, but they tend to use lots of canned and processed ingredients, which I thought defeated the purpose in a way. The idea of a slow cooker is to prepare nourishing meals when you have time, and to come home to cooked food.
