Looking for some ideas for tea tonight, it needs to be be fairly quick, healthy would be an advantage. Usual Saturday night are sometimes a takeaway or burgers, steak sandwiches etc.

What do you have in? Or are you going to the shops today?

BikeRunSki · 16/05/2020 07:39

Jacket potato

Imtoooldforallthis · 16/05/2020 07:43

Yes going to shop as nothing in, not jacket potato as that is our go to mid week meal.

Homemade burgers, potato wedges and salad. Or grilled halloumi in a wholemeal pitta with tzatziki and lots of salad.

siblingrevelryagain · 16/05/2020 07:46

Quesadillas; chicken, cheese and veg (peppers, onion). One wholewheat wrap in hot pan, load up grated cheese, chicken pieces and diced peppers/onions/preferred veg. Cook both sides until browned and cheese melting

siblingrevelryagain · 16/05/2020 07:47

Should say add another wrap on top of ingredients before turning over!

Imtoooldforallthis · 16/05/2020 07:47

Had burgers last night, but halloumi definately a possibility.

Thanks for all the suggestions, the burgers, wraps, grilled chicken and salads are our usual mid week meals. I guess it looks like we will end up with a takeaway.

I would do marinated chicken and vegetable kebabs (prob on barbecue because so much more tasty like that) with peanut dipping sauce, brown basmati rice and a simple asian salad of shredded spring onion and cucumber with wine vinegar.

MissHemsworth · 16/05/2020 08:01

Roast chicken, rice, salad, coleslaw, halloumi & flatbreads. Like a homemade Nando's.

Fish tacos with homemade salsa.

Spag Bol with whole meal pasta.

MurrayTheMonk · 16/05/2020 08:02

Lemon chicken and bacon salad. Fry chicken and bacon together, add lemon juice, and some dried tarragon. Stick it in top of a salad, Pitta bread on the side.

BeyondMyWits · 16/05/2020 08:03

We will be doing chicken kiev with cheesy pasta, with tomatoes, mushrooms and peppers roasted in the oven whilst the kievs are cooking. When done, mix veg and pasta with grated cheese, serve. Minimal effort, max taste.

Jenjenn · 16/05/2020 08:04

Homemade ramen type meal? Stirfry veg, add stock and noodles, top with prawns/chicken/fried egg.

alphabetspagetti · 16/05/2020 08:05

We had roast duck & pancakes last night. Hardest bit was shredding the duck

Xiaoxiong · 16/05/2020 08:05

We like our "skillet dinners" which all go on one plate which you could then eat on your knees.

Sausage, fennel seed, onion, kale, garlic bread

Asparagus, chorizo, fried croutons, almonds, cannelini beans

Lamb pilaf with yoghurt

Fried chickpeas, burrata, basil, tomatoes

Steak hash with asparagus and a fried egg

Shakshuka

Eggs Benedict

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 16/05/2020 08:27

Well even if the OP didn't fancy these suggestions I bloody did! Mmmm halloumi in pitta...

newbienewbie20 · 16/05/2020 08:30

If you're going to a supermarket spice tailor do awesome curry and daal kits, just add a microwave rice and some chicken

Imtoooldforallthis · 16/05/2020 08:36

Some fabulous suggestions, the thing is I'm the only cook in the house and cook from scratch every night. Saturday is my night off. So I like something that I can either prep beforehand and that has minimimal washing up.

Oh and we love chicken, but do eat rather a lot of it. If I suggest an easy tea to OH he always suggest toasties, which I always find a faff, I don't know why I think it goes back to me serving DH and DD while I'm still cooking mine.

Homemade Pizza

Curry

Burgers

Why can’t someone else cook. We have a rota we all do one day each - they choose what they want and cook if. Been great for them cooking more and more challenging things. As there 4 of us we only do max to evening meals a week each. Works well and gets the kids out of their rooms for a bit.

Also means if they have a favourite they really want they can cook it.

lovelyupnorth · 16/05/2020 08:41

We got a really nice curry set from the butchers this week - everything you need in one bag.
