You should be able to get it in any good supermarket or health food store. Made with soya I think but don't know the name - sorry.

assume you don't mean sorbet? Sainsburys do a soya ice cream and I'd expect it to be in health food stores.

Loobie · 09/10/2004 11:08

Yep you can get it we got it for dd in our holland and barrett shop.

Don't know if this helps but my niece can't have dairy and my sister found that the cheapest Value ice cream from supermarkets was fine for her (mostly cos it's just made out of vegetable fats I guess).

katzguk · 09/10/2004 13:37

its called toffuti and my mum reacons it tastes like ben and jerry's!! might do if you've not had the real thing recently!! i think that the big supermarkets sell it - will ask mum if not i think holland and barrett do

I think the best one is Swedish Glace (comes in a black hexagonal tub) - its truly gorgeous, especially the vanilla. IMHO much nicer than dairy icecream. You can get it from Sainsburys and Tesso - I think its quite reasonably priced in Tesco

katzguts....NOTHING tastes like ben and jerry's....

Hermykne...you can either get sorbets or soya ice cream...both of which you should be able to find a most good supermarkets and lots of healthfood stores.

if you look in stores that stock jewish food, they will do dairy free ice cream

I used to be a nanny to a jewish family and they had it as you can't mix meat and milk in the same meal

Well they didn't anyway. The children often had dairy free puddings especially ice cream
