I use the Quorn mince in spag bol & chilli - not veggie but it is fat free

charliecatthenonsmoker · 06/10/2004 19:50

I eat it and like it. Id prefer the real thing if it wasnt dead!

scrumpy · 06/10/2004 19:50

yes not veggie mix it with sweetcorn onion tomatoes and add creme fraiche and a bit of spice very nice and quick and low low in calories....no one else in my house would touch it with a barge pole though.

I make spag bol with it or chilli con carne when i'm on a green day on slimming world. If it's seasoned well kids & dh don't even notice the difference.

duster · 06/10/2004 20:05

Yes, marvellous stuff. You can bung the big pieces in the oven with a jar of Domio on top until the end of Neighbours et voila! dinner.

KangaMummy · 06/10/2004 20:09

I went to a potluck supper the other day and one friend bought quorn pate and it was delicious it comes from Tesco but only larger stores as I tried local one but was told only one on other side of town

Try it! it tastes great

I am a veggie but only eat Quorn pretend chicken slices. Don't actually like most meat replacement stuff (if I wanted to eat meat, I wouldn't be veggie) but the mock chicken makes a good sarnie.

beansmum · 06/10/2004 20:21

yuck yuck yuck!

whenever i visit my mum she trys to trick me with quorn peices instead of chicken, they are a totally different texture and just not as yummy as a nice bit of meat

beansmum · 06/10/2004 20:21

that sounds a bit rude

duster · 06/10/2004 20:23

Hehehehe!

stupidgirl · 06/10/2004 20:23

I am veggie and eat quorn, but the sausages and the mince I hate. Linda Mcartney sausages are much nicer and Releat veggie mince is nicer than Quorn. Otherwise, they're pretty good

Absolutely MI. We do eat it, as dp is vegi (ds & I aren't), & it's easier if we all eat the same, but I've started to cook 2 identical dishes with meat/quorn as I just don't like it.

hovely · 06/10/2004 21:21

I don't eat meat and I do eat quorn. I buy it in the form of burgers and sausages, and I buy the quorn mince to make veggies equivalents to spag bol, cottage pie, etc.

Clayhead · 06/10/2004 22:00

Lemon and pepper are my favourite. dd & ds love them too.

blossomhill · 06/10/2004 22:06

YG -Where do you get quorn meatballs from?

fisil · 06/10/2004 22:10

hoxtonchick - snap. Also, ds is not stupid and has always rejected meat imitations, so I figure that now the meat-eaters out number the veggies! Only problem is that I end up cooking as dp won't cook meat for ds!

marialuisa · 07/10/2004 09:14

Yep, but usually just sausages if we're having a meat-free day. They're good for toad-in-the-hole
