How long does pork keep in the freezer?

Just that really. We got given half a pig and ate it til we got bored, but there is still quite a lot left. It's been in an unopened freezer for a year. Is it still safe to eat - or should I bin it.

a butcher once toldl me that beef would be fine for ' years' in a freezer - but I really don't know about pork. There must be some meat advisory board or something you can consult online?

I have just read on a bbc food webssite that frozen pork should be consumed within six months - sorry!

Damn. I now have a dilemma - eat it? Or not. And if not, how do I get rid of a quarter of a pig? Put it in the bin still frozen just before the bin men come? That doesn't seem right....!
