what can I do with hard pears?

I've been given about 10 hard pears. I know this sounds silly but can you still cook them or do I have to try and ripen them?
I did think about pear crumble but I wondered whether the taste of the pears would come through? Any other pudding or cake suggestions?

mix p some nuts, raisins, orange peel, lemon juice, sugar and a bit of ameretto in a blender. Core them, and stuff the mixture in, wrap in foil and bake til soft. Delicious!

Or pear tart? Crumble would be a bit heavy for pears, I agree.

Chopster - I love the sound of the stuffed pears. I also by chance have some amaretto biscuits. I'll give it a go. Ta.
