don't know in lbs and oz but copied this from a website HTH
60 drops = 1 teaspoon
1 teaspoon = 1/3 tablespoon
1 tablespoon = 3 teaspoons
1 tablespoon = 1/16 cup
2 tablespoons = 1 fluid ounce
2 tablespoons = 1/8 cup
2 tablespoons + 2 teaspoons = 1/6 cup
4 tablespoons = 1/4 cup
5 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon = 1/3 cup
6 tablespoons = 3/8 cup
8 tablespoons = 1/2 cup
8 tablespoons = 1 tea cup or 4 fluid ounces
10 tablespoons + 2 teaspoons = 2/3 cup

you can get cups in Lakeland or I just guesstimate a small coffee mug or about half a normal big mug.....

8 fluid oz, but all wet and dry measured in the same way (you can use a pyrex measuring jug at a pinch)! I love recipes with cups, cause you can just go scoop scoop scoop done! No fiddly weighing

Muffins are the only "cakes" I can bake with success!

you can also buy cup measures from kitchen shops, so you can easily measure 1/2, 1/3 cups etc with ease!

Thanks for that.

LMB I've just copied that and printed it on a sticky label and stuck in in my recipe book.

What's heavy cream as well?? I'm presuming double.

Cups are a measure of volume, so no single equivalent in lbs or oz. The whole fluid ounce thing just confuses me, though. (A cup of sugar weighs more than a cup of flour, for instance.)

Double cream is thicker than heavy cream. American cream is pitiful stuff. Heavy cream still pours, without piling up at all. I expect you'd just call it "cream" -- you want the richest stuff that still pours easily.

A cup of cream is a bit less than the smallest size container you get in shops here, a half-pint I think?
