that should be ok too

BBBee · 26/08/2007 16:48

I add salt if I have not used water from vegetables which has salt in it already. Boil it for ages to reduce it. If mine seems really thin I add in some more flour/ gravy powder and water mix and boil it up.

Okay - if it is flavourless try:

-salt
-wine
-worcester sauce
-soy sauce
-stock cube / stock powder
-make sure you are using all the pan scrapings
-bit of honey or jelly taht you would have with the roast

keep boiling - as the liquid evaporates teh gravy will thicken more.

Hope this isn't going to be a case of too many cooks ..............

harleyd · 26/08/2007 16:48

too many people in the kitchen

BBBee · 26/08/2007 16:49

use the chicken stock cube.

Tarrogon is a bit scary IMO - oly works if there are no other flavours there.

nailpolish · 26/08/2007 16:50

bbbeee i might try gravy powder too instead of just flour which i normally do

i have no wine

agree too much advice - the rosemary and lemon will be lovely - should make a nice gravy.

Oh and another flaouvring I have been known to use is marmite.

BBBee · 26/08/2007 16:51

wait - if you have gravy powder use it instead of flour. It is easier that way.

nailpolish · 26/08/2007 16:52

oh ive used marmite too in the past, its a great store cupboard backup

ok better go and get prepared!

shall report back

How's it looking and tasting now?

nailpolish · 26/08/2007 17:41

omg its delicious

a bit salty maybe, i dont understand that - i didnt have any salt in with the veg - i only used 3/4 of a stock cube and i didnt add any salt to it

but apart from that its delicious

thank you all so much!

i was going to ask if anyone knew if its fine to freeze gravy as ive made loads, but i dont think there will be any left over

Glad it worked out for you.

The recipe I mentioned earlier was lovely too.
