So how would you decorate a chocolate fudge cake?

I'm covering a chocolate cake with chocolate fudge icing which can either be rough finished or I can smooth it with a hot knife. It's got LOADS of candles on the top so really I'm asking what to do around the sides. I need inspiration! I'm icing it tomorrow. Please help (and for those on my fan assisted oven thread...it came out fine...thanks!)

I would use giant chocolate buttons or giant smarties

60yrs! So not sure about smarties or buttons although personally would love them on a cake for me Um..icing isn't very sticky so I'm not sure if sprinkles would stay on. Other icing would or I could push stuff into it. I wondered about fresh flowers but read a few articles and was a bit scared about toxic stuff seeping into icing

Oh 60, sorry!

Tell you what are great, those little stars on bits of wire

like this
Most cake decorating type shops stock tehm

CountessDracula · 22/08/2007 15:33

and on that page are little things to put flowers in too!

DANCESwithDumbledore · 22/08/2007 15:35

Ah, now I could make those myself - have fondant icing, pearl shimmery powder and silver wires. Candles are silver and gold (NOT my choice...ahem...)
