I always sure day-old rice, if it's been stored properly. I understand that it can be dodgy but I've never had a problem.

SixKindsofCrisis · 20/08/2007 17:25

use not 'sure'

If it's only a day old, and it's been in the fridge it will be fine. Just make sure that it's really, really hot all the way through. Blitz it in the microwave, stir it, and blitz it again.

Greensleeves · 20/08/2007 17:26

It will be like little rubber pellets though, if you nuke it twice in a microwave!!!

I eat 1 dat old rice too, but make sure it's eaten cold straight from the fridge or piping hot throughout. I don't think you're supposed to re-heat it, but I always have.

I always eat rice that's been a few days old. I usually make it into fried rice. Just make sure you cook it well again.

smeeinit · 20/08/2007 17:27

thats own not won

Mellin · 20/08/2007 17:28

I use day old rice all the time to make fried rice. In fact fried rice is better if the rice is a day old.
I've never heard of cooked rice being dodgy?

pirategirl · 20/08/2007 17:30

yeah i have heard of that, I wonder why inconspicous rice can be good at food poisoning. ?

BecauseImWorthIt · 20/08/2007 17:33

There's a particular bacteria that it grows, apparently.

Mercy · 20/08/2007 17:34

The friend of a friend is a microbiologist and always said this too.
