piped chocolate? or really hard icing?
love making party cakes, too

nailpolish · 17/08/2007 14:14

make a huge huge cookie
like those ones at the train stations

nailpolish · 17/08/2007 14:14

or ice a piece of cardboard

CountessDracula · 17/08/2007 14:15

it would have to be VAST though
like the size of a dinner plate or something
would it not just break?

ricepuddingpaddington · 17/08/2007 14:15

Can you make it in cardboard and just cover the card in icing?

CountessDracula · 17/08/2007 14:15

yes I guess I could ice cardboard
not tooo tasty though

Great minds np

PandaG · 17/08/2007 14:16

Cover cardboard in sugarpaste - or a thin cake board? obv. wouldn't be edible, but you could lift it off to cut?

or a giant biscuit, but hat might be hard to cut through when you are cutting the cake.

geekgirl · 17/08/2007 14:18

meringue?
actually, the rim doesn't stick over that much, does it? How about making a large rim-sized cake and hollowing the center a bit, leaving just a small rim, and then putting the large cake upside-down on a smaller cake (rest of the hat)

It should cope fine with being iced if you make a reasonably dense cake.

does that make sense? sorry, kind of hard to explain.
