Cold meats, cheese, buffet type stuff, cake... just a sort of "pick your own" tea IYSWIM.

Wow! Lunch at 12.30. I'm impressed. More like half past 2 round here. Exciting isn't it, talking about Xmas! Usually just a bit of cake and perhaps a mince pie at 8 ish.

JoolsToo · 24/09/2004 19:11

Aaarghhhh! you said the 'X' word - in SEPTEMBER!!!!

Kayleigh · 24/09/2004 19:58

we also have a late lunch - around 2:30ish. So in the evening it's a turkey sandwich if you're hungry. But no-one usually is.

meysey · 24/09/2004 20:15

smoked salmon sandwiches. leftovers start the next day!

Hulababy · 24/09/2004 20:19

AS there is just the three of us, we don't do muh for tea at all. We normally have a large breakfast and latish dinner. So at the most we'll have sandwiches and christmas chocolates.

Skate · 25/09/2004 13:58

We tend to have late lunch - 2.30ish so noone really wants to eat anything by tea time except all the chocs!!

Usually buy loads of buffet, picky food that gets wasted!

Angeliz · 25/09/2004 14:00

We have leftover turkey stuff.
The house is always full of food!!

And Christmas cake.......mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........

agy · 25/09/2004 14:11

Oooooooooh! Christmas cake!
Think this is my diet talking!

Paula71 · 25/09/2004 21:09

We have a light lunch of homemade soup and fresh baked rolls at about midday then the proper Christmas dinner at about 5 or 6. It is just the way we have arranged it since we were together.

Last year I had my parents over but this year we are going to their house first and have dinner just the four of us (five if you include the dog!) We have chicken rather than turkey will tons of veggies, potato croquettes and butternut squash mash. Yum, making me hungry thinking about it. Don't know what kind of soup I'll make this year though.

We have cold turkey, sometimes cold tongue (although usually that's boxing day food) but mostly we're all too stuffed so just keep on drinking - especially this year as may have to cope with MIL

We cheat by having Christmas "lunch" at 5 pm. Before that we have an early Breakfast (woken up by excited dd) of stollen, buck's fizz and chocolate. Then later, after opening and playing with dd's presents; talking to all absent family members on the phone; we have maybe a little smoked salmon brunch (with more champagne). It gives me plenty of time to cook the main meal of the day (and no tea needed).

KangaMummy · 26/09/2004 16:26

We have christmas cake made by my mum and decorated by DS with his granny, and mince pies at about 5pm.

My mum and Dad come for day, we have champagne when they arrive about 12, lunch: tomato juice for starters as that is what we had ever since I was little, turkey and all trimmings and christmas pud cooked by DH about 1pm.

We always open our presents after all the washing up has been done like it was when I was little. Ahhh.

DS has his stocking first thing in the morning. Well at 6am!!!

Ameriscot2004 · 26/09/2004 16:29

We have lunch all over again for supper on Christmas Day.

Slinky · 26/09/2004 16:35

I'm planning to do our Christmas lunch for 3pm this year, so that I can get away with not doing any tea
