Time is ticking on, what the hell am I going to produce for dinner?

It's my turn to cook and to make matters worse DP is at work and I'm on the six-week holiday that non-teachers love to hate us for. So I have no excuse for turning out some rubbish. Also it was my turn yesterday (we go week by week) and we ended up getting takeaway.

Not only have I not got any idea what to make, there is no food in the house. There is, however, a Tesco Metro round the corner. Can I get away with dirty Tesco pizzas, do you think, given that when it's DP's turn we eat delicious and nutricious meals made entirely from scratch, and if not, please give me some inspiration!

Well, since you're going to Tescos anyway, instead of buying a ready made pizza, why don't you get the bits to make your own pizzas? Still quick, but also involves the children, thus giving you a good excuse to not have done something very adventrous!
BTW, I would NEVER comment on how much holiday a teacher gets.

You've gotta admit, its a bit of a cooshtie number, innit?

Sausage and mash quick and easy to do - that's what we are having.

fleacircus · 13/08/2007 16:43

Good idea, although our PFB is yet to be born so would be entertaining only myself. But would at least feel like I was making something, although not sure DP would agree.

Yep - pretty cooshtie. Three more weeks to go.

Or be naughty and get the ingredients for a fry up?

TheMaskedPoster · 13/08/2007 16:48

pasta arrabbiata (I only say that as I have a jar of the sauce lurking in cupboard!) .. not that I will be up to eating a lot of it anyway ...

let us know what you have decided!

RubberDuck · 13/08/2007 16:50

Nooooo you're pregnant - be naughty, excellent excuse.

Pasta sounds WAY too healthy to me ;)

fleacircus · 13/08/2007 16:52

Hmmm... pasta a good idea. It's finally turned into summer here so sausages and mash would be yummy but maybe a bit wintry. There might even be some sardines and tinned tomatoes in the cupboard which would mean I could skip the Tesco trip altogether and just get an onion from the Turkish shop. Although I should probably get some salad or something...

Sod it, am going to have to go to Tesco. Was hoping to find a way to avoid it, but unless one of you has a recipe for a delicious repast made from baked beans, empty toilet rolls and string there is no escape.

Thanks for suggestions - am too lazy for my own good!

Rubber Duck, you are so right. I'm not lazy, I'm pregnant, using all my energy in growing DP's baby. I can't believe I was worrying about it!

Salmon steaks (add lemon juice and fresh herbs and cook in microwave), with warm potato salad (new pots boiled then drained and tossed in a little mayonnaise), cucmber salad (peeled, sliced cucmber in white wine vinegar and a little sugar), tomaot and basil salad in balsamic vinegar, all served with a dollop of tatziki. Very summery, very easy, very tasty.

RubberDuck · 13/08/2007 16:56

You only get away with it while pregnant with PFB... they're wise to it by NSC ... milk it for all it's worth...
