How big is the chicken?20 mins per 450g + an extra 20 mins. Check it 10-15 mins before you think it should be ready - its cooked when you stick a fork in and the juice that runs out looks ckear, not at all pink.
Sunflower oil fine.

ricepuddingpaddington · 11/08/2007 10:57

Pots - about the size of half a lemon; raost for about 1hr and 10 ish? Roast dinner -yum.

Trinityrhino · 11/08/2007 11:09

how do you make gtravy using the juices??
Is it really dangerous and could make you ill like my freaky, paranoid, pink people on my head tell me??????

No, gravy will not make you ill - breathe, for goodness sake, woman!
Do you think, and this is meant kindly, that making gravy is a step too far for your first roast dinner?

ricepuddingpaddington · 11/08/2007 11:13

Ahem. I use Bisto granules. I am lazy git.

What we do is pour a little of the juice on top of the granules and mix to a paste, then add boiling water. Then micro for 1 min to bring it back to the boil and get juices absorbed. HTH. And as long as chicken is cooked properly (juice clear, not pink) you won't get ill.

12.30
yes
about half a med potato
stop panicing!

Trinityrhino · 11/08/2007 11:13

i think your right scooter
I'll just stick to bisto granules with a little added marmite and tomato puree, thats the way I've always done it as scared of the meat juices.

I would definitely do that as to make proper gravy you really should pick the chicken up after its cooked and tip all the juice out...
Maybe next time
Are you all happy with everything now?

Trinityrhino · 11/08/2007 11:15
