breadmaker - crust too hard?

any advice on what I do about this. Have been following the recipes in the book and although there is a setting for a less brown crust it only seems to operate on some settings.

i gave up making bread in my breadmaker for that reason. I use it loads for dough though. making rolls and pizza etc.

oh! check the book that comes iwth it. it might have a trouble shooting section with suggestions

I wrap my loaves in a clean tea towel as soon as they come out of the pan. Once the bread has cooled the crusts are nice and soft.

Is yours a panasonic as you can't adjust the crust setting when doing wholemeal?

not panasonic - morphy richards ( I think). Book with it is pathetic.

Thanks for the tea towel idea - I'll try that. I found a trouble shooting section in a library book suggesting more oil and mik might help. The sun's been out here so have been out enjoying it instead of breadmaking
